Do not eat or drink anything after 12:00am (midnight) before your surgery unless your surgeon has told you otherwise. Do not smoke or use any tobacco products.
If you develop a fever, rash, cold, sore throat or any other abnormal symptoms prior to your appointment, be sure to notify your doctor.
You should bathe before you arrive for surgery. You may brush your teeth, but do not swallow any water.
You must make some arrangements for someone to drive you home. The medications and/or anesthesia can temporarily impair your reflexes and reaction time. We will not be able to release you from the hospital until you have someone who can drive you home.
Bring a list of medications, dosage and frequency to the hospital with you including allergies. You do not need to bring your medications with you.
You will change into a hospital gown before surgery, so please wear comfortable loose clothing. Please remove make-up and nail polish prior to arrival. Parents should bring diapers and a bottle for children when appropriate.
If you wear dentures, partials, contact lenses or prosthesis, you will be asked to remove these before surgery. Bring your cases and solutions with you.
You will be asked to sign a consent form for your surgical procedure. A foster child, minor (anyone under 18 yrs) or anyone lacking decision making capacity must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or caregiver.
Please leave all jewelry, money or other valuables at home or with your family.
Your family will be asked to remain in the waiting area when you go to surgery. When the procedure is finished, the doctor will speak to family members in a private consultation room. Please do not bring children with you to the hospital unless you have family to care for them.

If your physician prescribes a special diet to be continued after your dismissal, a dietician can meet with you before dismissal.
