Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Care Department of Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems provides a variety of services to the North Central Kansas community.  Our Sleep Diagnostics Center was the first Accredited Sleep Lab in North Central Kansas.

Our pulmonary function lab contains the latest equipment from Jaeger International; we currently have the ability to perform Spirometry, Diffusion and Lung volumes. We also are the only lab in Kansas to perform Impulse Oscillimetry.

The IOS measurement is common in Europe, and is able

to detect certain lung conditions such as asthma, with out requiring any effort from the patient.  We also can do arterial blood gases 24 hours per day.  Besides our routine care, our department currently can operate four mechanical ventilators within our four bed Intensive Care Unit.

While our staff is small, we currently have over 50 years of combined experience in acute respiratory care.

Our department also operates the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation department.
