Diabetes Education

Diabetes education is offered through in or outpatient counseling to meet individual needs.

Educational needs focus on blood glucose monitoring, exercise, sick days, food planning, medications and other concerns that influence self-management and control.

A certified diabetes nurse practitioner counsels out-patients at the out-patient clinic held at the Thomas Conroy Professional Building on Wednesdays.

Diabetes "Lunch and Learn" group meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday at the MCHHS library from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. Pre-registration is not required - just bring your own lunch or purchase from the hospital cafeteria.

Insulin pump user group meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month to meet the individual needs of pump users.

You can contact the Education department for additional information by calling 785-738-9580 or by e-mailing Deb Beam.
