KAREN MARTIN RETIRES FROM MITCHELL COUNTY HOSPITAL HEALTH SYSTEMS

Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS) is pleased to announce the retirement of Karen Martin, Laundry Assistant, and recognize her for 10 years of dedicated service to our organization. Karen’s last day with the hospital will be April 11th.

Karen began her journey at MCHHS on July 2, 1979, as a dietary aide and later became a cook. During her time in the department, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of four team members in a car accident, a tragedy felt deeply throughout the hospital. In November 1980, Karen married and moved to Ellsworth. She later returned to MCHHS in May 2016, rejoining the dietary department before transitioning to the Laundry Department, where she has remained ever since.

Karen is the proud mother of three children: Tyler and his wife Heather of Little Rock, Arkansas; Travis and his wife Annie of Sugar Lake, Missouri; and Kody and her husband Kenny of Lenexa, Kansas. She also cherishes her six grandchildren: Layla, Lottie, Liv, Logan, Michael, and Ozzie.

Reflecting on her time at MCHHS, Karen shares, “It has been a joy getting to know everyone here. You are all such wonderful people, and I feel fortunate to have had this experience. While I will miss working with you all, I’m excited for the next chapter in my life. I will always look back on my time here fondly and carry these memories with me.”

Her vibrant personality and loving nature will be deeply missed by all of us," said Carley Gardner, Laundry Supervisor. “We are excited for her as she begins this new chapter, filled with amazing moments with her children and grandchildren, as well as new and exciting adventures. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
