MCHHS Achieves Gold Level Recognition for Fourth Trimester Initiative

Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems is proud to announce that it has been awarded Gold Level Recognition for its exemplary work in the Fourth Trimester Initiative, a program partnership through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative (KPQC). This maternal quality improvement initiative is aimed at improving maternal health and reducing preventable deaths and complications across the state.

This honor reflects MCHHS’s commitment to supporting new mothers and families through a holistic, evidence-based approach to postpartum care. The Fourth Trimester Initiative emphasizes the importance of care continuity, mental health support, breastfeeding guidance, and personalized follow-up during the critical months after delivery.

“MCHHS is honored to receive this recognition, which underscores our dedication to ensuring that every mother has access to the care and resources she needs after giving birth,” said Nicki Cleveland, MCHHS Chief Nursing Officer. “Our team has worked tirelessly to implement best practices that put mothers’ physical and emotional well-being first.”

The Gold Level status is a tribute to MCHHS’s ongoing leadership in maternal health innovation and patient-centered care. Through collaborative partnerships, education, and community outreach, MCHHS continues to strengthen its services for families navigating the postpartum journey.
