Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems provides an Insurance Coordinator that is a marketplace certified application counselor and certified Medicare SHICK Counselor. The Insurance Coordinator is trained, unbiased, and certified to help you compare health insurance plans, assist you with the online application process, and provide answers to your Marketplace or Medicare questions year-round.
The Insurance Coordinator works with individuals and families to renew eligibility or gain eligibility for the first time with the KanCare program.
The Insurance Coordinator works with Medicare eligible individuals to assist in first-time enrollment, Part D enrollment and plan changing, Medicare supplement enrollment, and applying for available savings programs. Open Enrollment for Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) and Part D (Drug Plans) runs from October 15-December 7 of each year.
The Health Insurance Marketplace
The Health Insurance Marketplace is the online portal where private companies and the marketplace work to make plans affordable. In Kansas, you can access the Marketplace by visiting healthcare.gov.
Open Enrollment (OE) into the marketplace takes place November 1-December 15 each year. You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) outside of OE in the Health Insurance Marketplace if you've experienced a life changing event, such as changing jobs, loss of health insurance, moving, birth/adoption, marriage/divorce or turning 26 (if you were on your parent's plan).
Added Emergency Enrollment Period for Marketplace Health Insurance is February 15th, 2021 - May 15th, 2021. This added Enrollment period will give Americans who need affordable, quality health insurance an opportunity to get covered during the pandemic.
